The Begur wildlife sacnctuary is located about 20 km
from Mananthavady in the Wayanad district of Kerala. Wayanad is situated
on the Western Ghats. Away from the human habitation is located the
Begur wildlife sanctuary. Begur Wildlife Sanctuary is surrounded by lush
green and dense forests, which make it one of the most beautiful
locations of Kerala. The region has an abundant wealth of species of
flora and fauna and is of great interest to nature lovers.
Begur Wildlife Sanctuary has several species of animals like elephant,
leopard, spotted deer, bison, tiger, bear and wild boar. The best time
to visit the Begur wildlife sanctuary is Dec to May, when animals from
the nearby Bandhipur, Nagarhole and Mudamalai sanctuaries frequent the
Begur sanctuary. The migration is a result of water scarcity elsewhere.
