The nearest airport from Kollam is Trivandrum International Airport, situated about 71 km from the town of Kollam. It is one of the busiest airports in India in terms of international passenger traffic and is the second largest airport in Kerala in terms of domestic and international passenger traffic. Kollam, being the third largest railway station in terms of area in Kerala, is an important railway head and is connected to several important cities of Kerala and India. It has a total of 8 platforms, with the tracks being well-connected to rest of the cities in and outside Kerala.

Kollam is easily accessible by road with many tourist centers in Kerala as well as India through the national highways NH-47, NH-220, and NH-208.
